Goals
The goals of VP 20S are to introduce students to the concept of digital filmmaking. Students will learn the process and the skills necessary to create a movie.
Many of these skills include:
Projects
The projects for this course are the creation of videos (movies, to be more specific). Each movie you make will focus on a particular skill or technique.
Project #1 - Storytelling 101
Project #2 - Understanding the 180 degree rule
Project #3 - Camera Composition
Project #4 - Genres
Project #5 - TBD
Individual Projects
Each student is responsible for completing two individual projects per term. The projects are to be done by self-guiding and self-teaching. You will need to find available resources to help finish the project.
Your choices for the first term include:
After Effects Logo: create a logo for your very own production company. The logo length will be approximately 5 - 10 seconds and it must showcase a strong knowledge of the software Adobe After Effects. Projects that use a template will not receive marks.
Special Effects Scene: create a scene for a movie that includes the use of special effects. The greater the degree of difficulty, the better. Feel free to use Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects for this project.
Movie Poster: Create a poster for one of your movies. The final product must have all of the qualities that make a movie poster - look like a movie poster! It is highly recommended that you use Photoshop for this project. The poster must be 11.5" x 17" and submitted as a jpg.
